Although wells and the platform structures are being engineered in great detail, less thought is given to the conductor between the seabed and the facilities. Throughout its life a conductor is subjected to continuous environmental and structural loads and devoting the same amount of engineering effort to conductors at the design stage can provide major benefits in reliability.
